Built for higher-volume cashew lines
The 12-head cashew nut cutting machine is the largest fixed-motor configuration in the OUTTURN head-count range, built for processors who have outgrown a single small cutter but aren’t yet ready for a fully automatic line. Twelve individual cup-and-blade cutting stations are arranged around a rotating turret, so instead of one nut at a time from a single station, the machine keeps twelve nuts moving through loading, cutting, and unloading simultaneously.
How the rotary cutting mechanism works
Each cutting station on the turret consists of a cup that holds one steamed raw cashew nut and a blade positioned above it. A single 0.75 kW motor drives the turret through a continuous rotary cycle, carrying each loaded cup into the blade’s cutting plane in sequence. As a cup arrives under the blade, the blade presses down through the shell along its natural seam, splitting it cleanly without crushing the kernel. The cup then rotates on toward the unloading position while the next cup, already loaded by an operator further back on the turret, moves into place behind it.
Because loading, cutting, and unloading happen at different points around the same rotation rather than as separate stages, operators can work in parallel around the machine — some loading nuts, others clearing cut shells — instead of waiting on a single cutting head to finish one nut before starting the next.
Why the motor stays the same across the range
A question we hear often is why a 12-head machine doesn’t need a bigger motor than a 2-head one. The answer is that the motor’s job in this design is limited to indexing the turret and driving the cutting stroke at each station in turn — it isn’t powering twelve simultaneous cuts at once. Because the mechanical load per cycle is essentially constant regardless of how many stations are arranged around the turret, OUTTURN’s entire 2-to-12-head lineup runs on the same 0.75 kW motor design. What changes as you move up the range is the number of cutting stations working the turret in parallel, which is what drives the higher rated capacity, not motor output.

At 240–280 kg/hr of raw nut input, the 12-head machine sits at the top of our manual-load, single-motor range — a practical step for processors moving beyond small-batch cutting toward a steadier mid-volume line, without the cost and complexity of a fully automatic system. The shared parts platform across our head-count range also means the cups, blades, and core mechanical components on this machine are the same wear items used on our smaller models, which keeps spares simple to stock if you’re scaling up gradually rather than replacing your whole line at once.
